A mildly malty and slightly fruity fermentation profile;
not as tart and dry as 1098 and much more flocculent. Clears well without
filtration. Low fermentation temperatures will produce a clean finish with
a very low ester profile.
Alcohol tolerance Approx: 10%
Fermentation Temps: 64-72° F
Flocculation: High
Apparent Attenuation: 68-72%
This is known to be the backup strain to 1098.
Whitbread is usually made with these two strains (aka
1098 and 1099)
Often warm and bready, Makes good English ales.
1099 tends to be a little less dry for sure. It makes
very nice Porter Styles.
