German Alt Bier is a lot like
English British. I think at least think of it this way. Alt tends to be
much more hoppier as well as bitter.
I was first introduced to this style by the great Denny Conn of RYE PA
fame. This is a great example of an easy to brew great tasting beer, As
long as you use the Single Infushion Method.
This beer has a very distinct bitterness in the beginning due to it
being FWH. (Or "Forward Wort Hopping" I will be explaining FWH in further
detail later.)
This is a style of beer you won't find elsewhere outside of its Native
Dusseldorf region. So this is a beer that the Homebrewer can really sink
his teeth into and call his own.
Now there are commercial examples. I personnaly have never had one. I'm
to impressed with my own results to bother.:)
Usually hopped with Spalt, Tettnanger, The good German nobles. (More on
this subject as well, As the sight evolves.)
Again BREW ON!!!
