English Ole Ale is an Ale of great flavour.
This is usually one of my favorites during the colder months.
Being an Ohioan you learn to keep warm anyway you can during the winter
months. This is sure a wonderful way to do it. :)
There are a few diffrent styles of Old Ale and I compel you to try all of
them. There are also diffrent flavours and tastes to be enjoyed. Malty to
Carmely, Mellow to intensly bitter, all with balance.
One of my personal favorites is the famouse Theakstons Old Peculiar from
Masham,England. It's Nutty almost like a Brown Ale, But it's also buttery with
subtle carmel notes through the toungue feel. It can be rather expensive as to
the tune of $9.99 for 6 12 oz bottles. But in my opinon well worth a few
dollars just for it's wonderful qualitys. This is also a beer that you don't
have to worry about buying fresh. As it just gets better with age. Also to note
this brewery uses Thomas Fawcett grains as well.:)
Another one of my favorites within style is the infamous Winter Warmer. It
like the Ole Ale has diffrent flavour perception due to the vision the brewer
has endevored. One of my favorites is Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome. Which in
my opinion defines this style about the best. This is a beer that I as a
Homebrewer have yet to brew. But have plans to brew before next Winter
season.:)
I hope I have sheed some light on this style and if you haven't tried it you
will very soon.:)
As always BREW ON!!!
Prost!!!
